FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter came ‘home’ for a few hours this Sunday 13 June, when he attended an official reception held at the Swiss Embassy in Tshwane/Pretoria by Doris Leuthard, President of the Swiss Confederation.

The FIFA President’s delegation made its way to the ambassadorial residence in Pretoria to enjoy a lunch in the company of Mme Leuthard and other high-profile figures from Switzerland. “Today, if I may, I would like to be considered just a little bit Swiss,” joked President Blatter.

“Usually, as President of FIFA, I have to remain neutral at all times. But I’m honoured to have been invited to this reception here in Pretoria. And I am especially proud that, in Doris Leuthard, Switzerland has a Confederation President of such calibre.”

Following the lunch, President Blatter took questions from Swiss media representatives also in attendance, before leaving for Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Tshwane/Pretoria to take in the day’s second FIFA World Cup™ match between Serbia and Ghana, which saw the African side triumph 1-0.
