Paraguay's Libertad, Uruguay's Cerro and Colombia's Once Caldas won their opening fixtures in the Copa Libertadores group stage on Tuesday.

Libertad claimed a 2-0 away win over Lanus in Argentina in Group 4, with Rodolfo Vicente Gamarra and Pedro Velazquez scoring in the second half.

In Group 5, Cerro defeated Ecuadorian champions Deportivo Quito 2-0 in Montevideo, with goals from Claudio Dadomo and Rodrigo Mora.

Once Caldas beat Paraguay's Nacional by the same scoreline, with Jaime Castrillon and Danny Santoya on target.

In Santiago, Chile's Universidad Catolica qualified for the group stage after a 5-3 penalty shootout win over Argentina's Colon. The home side won the second leg 3-2, with David Henriquez, Rodrigo Toloza and Juan Jose Morales on target, for a 5-5 aggregate draw which took the tie to spot kicks.

Catolica goalkeeper Paulo Garces saved a Moreno y Fabianesi shot before Rodrigo Mannara netted the winner as the Chilean side reached Group 8, where they will play arch rivals Universidad de Chile, Brazilians Flamengo and Caracas of Venezuela.
