In our regular Sunday feature, we bring you the names of some of the best-known figures on Planet Football who will be celebrating their birthdays over the coming week.

Diego (25) is unquestionably one of the most gifted footballers plying his trade in Europe today. The stylish playmaker joined Juventus in the summer after three sparkling seasons with Werder Bremen and has become a regular member of the Brazil squad under coach Dunga.

Carlos Queiroz (57) and his Portugal side overcame a stuttering start to their 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ qualifying campaign and duly booked a place at the finals. Before the tactician, who was born in Nampula, Mozambique, took charge of Cristiano Ronaldo and Co., his coaching roles included spells in the top job at Real Madrid and as assistant manager at Manchester United.

Kevin Kuranyi (28) was born in Rio de Janeiro, but came to Germany at a young age and has lived there ever since. The former Germany international is in fine form this term and has a dozen Bundesliga goals to his name. Indeed, Kuranyi has netted at least ten times in each of the last eight top flight seasons. No other player boasts such a consistent record.

Zbigniew Boniek (54) rates as one of the best players ever to emerge from Poland. The former world-class striker scored a total of six goals at three FIFA World Cup finals. The Polish Player of the Year in 1978 and 1982 played his club football in Serie A for Juventus and Roma between 1982 and 1988.

Pierluigi Casiraghi (41) was a top-notch striker for Italy during his playing career. He was a member of the national squad in 1994 when the Italians marched to the FIFA World Cup Final, but fell to Brazil on penalties. At club level, Casiraghi played for Juventus and Lazio, as well as for Chelsea in England towards the end of his career.

Gerald Vanenburg (46) won the UEFA European Championship in 1988 with the Netherlands and represented his country at the FIFA World Cup in Italy two years later. Vanenburg first signed professional forms for Amsterdam giants Ajax, before beginning a seven-year spell with PSV Eindhoven in 1986. The technically-gifted player hung up his boots in 2000 and has since moved into coaching.

Giorgios Karagounis (33), subject of an exclusive FIFA.com interview a short time ago, now reappears on our pages as a birthday boy. The Greece stalwart and his team-mates will travel to the 2010 FIFA World Cup determined to repeat their success at UEFA Euro 2004, where the Greeks stunningly charged to the trophy.
